I recently had the option to test out an Asus HEB-1000 netbook. In my personal opinion it is perfect for people on the road. Battery life is a claimed 7hrs, which I had to try out. I let the unit charge overnight. At noon the next day, I unplugged the netbook and went about my daily computer activities. Watching videos, transferring files, surfing the web, and checking email. After a few hours of constant use, and a few system standbys from non use, the battery life was at 40% with 3 hours left to go (according to the netbook). That was at 10pm that night. I decided to plug the Asus back in to watch some streaming videos on my plasma TV, through the VGA port on the right side of the netbook. Switching the video was very simple, by pressing the “Fn” key and the “F8” key.

The netbook was also able to get full strength wireless signal from my router, with the help of its build in wireless N support. The HEB-1000 also has a built in 1.3 mega pixel web cam built in. This netbook also has 160gb of hard drive space, with another 10gb available through Eee Storage. Some of the downsides to this Asus is the fingerprints. With the super glossy top its a fingerint factory. Another thing I have noticed with it, is the space bar doesn't always work when you hit the corner of it. No big deal once you adjust your thumbs to the smaller keyboard size, it will work fine.

All in all it is a good netbook for the price, priced at $350.
